Historical BackgroundEdit

1867-1984

Marie Curie, or Marie Skłodowska-Curie, was a Polish physicist and chemist who conducted pioneering research on radioactivity. She was the first woman to win a Nobel Prize. She was also the only person to win twice in multiple sciences, and was part of the Curie family legacy of five Nobel Prizes.

History Edit

Maire Curie was born into the 3rd generation of clones at the same time as all of them had, half a year or so before the 2nd generation's graduation day. In high school, Marie knew quite early that she didn't fit her identity as "Marie Curie" and disregarded the study of science to pursue her truest passion, music. She pestered Mozart to teach her piano constantly, and when Mozart became fed up with her and tossed his sheet music out the window, she quickly volunteered to pick them up herself, either unaware of or ignoring Mozart's rudeness. He eventually gave into tutoring her, and she came to look up to him.

At some point, Marie becomes fed up enough with St. Kleio's insistence that she should assume her "Maire Curie" identity, and speaks out against it in class. When the teacher refuses to understand her plight, Marie dashes off in the middle of the class. Shiro, who had been present, chases after her, and discovers Marie playing a Mozart piano sonata to herself for solace. Shiro compliments her talent, but Marie disagrees because the original Marie Curie did not have musical aptitude. She confesses to him that she wishes she was born as some one else, like Mozart. Shiro offers to talk to his father, Dr Kamiya about allowing Marie to study music, to Marie's delight, and she returns to her classes to relax in Florence and Elizabeth's friendly company. After being informed by Shiro, Dr. Kamiya explains to Marie Curie that St. Kleio is going to give her a chance, and if she really wants to study music, then she was will be taken to the Da Vinci Foundation, a separate, faraway branch from St. Kleio so that she can study there in secret. He warns Marie that since she has rejected her clone identity, she will have to push her boundaries and truly prove herself with a worth commensurate with Marie Curie, or else. He also adds that however, if she achieves her goal, then St. Kleio will be more willing to offer similar opportunities to other students in the future. She decides to take this chance and promises to keep it a secret from the other students.

When Florence visits her room afterwards to find her packing, Marie fibs that she is just being transferred to a music. school and will live with a relative (which is clearly false, as clones do not have relatives). She describes her ecstatic happiness to Florence, and owes her opportunity to Shiro.
